About me

Mission

It is my goal to play water polo in University.

Growing up with three brothers, I learned to play all the sports: hockey, softball, gymnastics, swimming, soccer, basketball and dance. I started swimming competitively at age 6 and swam with the Killarney Swim Club for 4 years, until COVID interrupted sports. I loved tall sports, but it wasn't until I tried water polo that I found my favorite sport. My first two years of water polo were with the Calgary Seawolves. I joined the Calgary Renegades in 2021. This gave me exposure to a higher level of competition as the Renegades compete in the NCL league, mainly in Western Canada but also with teams from the East as well as the US. I continue to swim in the summer season (May-August) with the Calgary Tritons.

Our team at Tessa Vander Meulen is made up of experienced swimmers and coaches who are dedicated to helping our customers achieve their goals. We are passionate about swimming and love sharing our knowledge and expertise with others.

We offer swim lessons for infants as young as 6 months old. Our instructors use gentle techniques to introduce your little one to the water and teach them basic swim skills.

I am proud to play for the Calgary Renegades, Calgary's premier club for female water polo players. Within the NCL, the Calgary Renegades U16 team is undefeated in 2024 and 2025. We won gold at the Tournament of Courage as well as the Alberta Open.

I have been swimming competitively since the age of 6. After I transitioned to water polo, I switched to summer swimming, competing with the Calgary Tritons in the ASSA league. I focus on the 50M free, 50M and 100M backstroke and 400M and 800M races. In the 2024 season, I won silver at Provincials in the 50M back, 400M Free and 800 Free a

Coaching

I love water polo, so it brings me great joy to help kids learn to play. I am an assistant coach with the Maco Water Polo Club. Through the Renegades, I also volunteer with our minigades program which is designed to expose recreational water polo players to competitive water polo.
